Where the whole thing started

Black Bird opened on R.T.M Street in 2021 with a short menu and one rule — nothing gets made until somebody orders it. Everything since, including the second branch at Silk Mill, came out of that room.

It is still the branch where things happen first. QR table ordering went live here before anywhere else; you scan the code on your table, the menu opens in your browser, and the order goes straight to the kitchen without you waiting to catch anyone’s eye. Silk Mill gets it next.

The neighbourhood is a large part of why it works. Sankaranpalayam is close to the main Vellore bus stand and the older, busier part of town, so the room fills with families and people on their way somewhere rather than with one single crowd.

Ten till nine, seven days a week. The evening rush runs from about six to nine and is heaviest at weekends — that is when a group without a booking will be waiting for a table.

Afternoons are the quiet stretch and the better experience if you want to sit for a while: more of the room, faster food, no queue at the counter.

For eight people or more, call 97892 90974 first. There is a hall upstairs, and having it laid out before you arrive is much better than rearranging a full room around you.
